The AGRO-MET, a component of the Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) project implemented in India by Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), is supporting communities and local selfgovernments to use locale-specific climate forecasts and agri information for decision-making.

Weathering Climate Change

“Weathering Climate Change” is a short film that describes WOTR’s Agro-Meteorology component of Climate Change Adaptation Project and some of the real-time ground experiences. This component combines locale-specific Met-advisories and Agro-advisories for timely weather information to help farmers plan their agricultural activities.

Block Level Contingency Plan for Weather Aberrations in Sangamner Block of Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra

Th e Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR) has been working in the Sangamner Block since the last 20 years, organizing communities regenerate the watersheds they live in and adopt sustainable agricultural practices. As part of its Climate Change Adaptation project being implemented in 20 villages of this block, WOTR, in collaboration with the Central Research Institute for Dry land Agriculture (CRIDA) has undertaken a study to develop contingency strategies to help the farmer cope with unexpected weather events and build a measure of resilience to nature’s vagaries. This publication Plan is the outcome of this effort.

“Weathering Climate Change” is a short film that describes WOTR’s Agro-Meteorology component of Climate Change Adaptation Project and some of the real-time ground experiences. This component combines locale-specific Met-advisories and Agro-advisories for timely weather information to help farmers plan their agricultural activities. Also a web based initiative, it is marked by its unique automated platform and software to provide village wise weather trends that can be widely up scaled.

The advisories and met-forecasts are shared with the communities through phone and smses.
