COVID-19 Rapid Response

India is now among the three countries in the world to reach the bleak milestone of 100,000 deaths caused due to novel coronavirus after the United States and Brazil, and its epidemic shows no sign of abating. As COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak unprecedented havoc, we at WOTR are working tirelessly to address the situation across our project villages.

WOTR’s COVID-19 rapid response actions have impacted Over 622,000 people, from 124,510 households in 671 villages across 26 districts in 7 states.

As India registered over 5 million cases and 82,000 deaths from the COVID-19 virus, we at WOTR are continuing to support communities across our project villages. As the pandemic spreads further into the country, the vulnerable communities are trying to rebuild their lives and cope with the pandemic.

As the whole world stares at an uncertain future, Watershed Organisation Trust has been at the forefront, helping vulnerable communities in rural India cope with the aftermath of COVID-19. We are doing whatever it takes to mobilise support through our regional resource centres to tackle the challenges faced by farmers who are engaged in agricultural activities as the Kharif season begins.

Even as COVID-19 spreads further across the country, the vulnerable rural communities need a shoulder to lean on in times of rising economic instability and looming penury. It would be wise and timely to anticipate and prepare for a surge in infections and further eventualities in rural India given the mass exodus of migrant labourers from urban centres.
