There is an urgent need to create mechanisms to empower widows in Yavatmal and Vidarbha, and give them the support they need to pick up the pieces of their lives and move forward. However, such initiatives are rare. One of the few such projects for the welfare of the helpless women is run by Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR) and its sister organization Sampada Trust.
Announcement: Prakash Keskar takes over as Executive Director, WOTR. Marcella D’Souza to continue as Director, WOTR-Centre for Resilience Studies (W-CReS)
We are pleased to share with you news about important changes in the senior leadership team at Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR).
After 13 years in office as the Executive Director of WOTR, Dr. Marcella D’Souza stepped down from the role which saw her lead WOTR to what it is today – a globally recognized institution working at the intersection of practice, knowledge and policy across scales and in collaboration with stakeholders from across sectors.
Prakash Keskar, with over 25 years of experience in the development sector (21 years of which have been in WOTR), across various levels and geographies, takes over as the Executive Director of WOTR with effect from 1st April, 2019. Prakash has served in key positions of large-scale watershed projects like the Indo-German Watershed Development (in the Programme Coordination Unit) and the Watershed Development Fund (WDF) of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, NABARD (in the Project Sanctioning Committee). He has also led and participated in several consultancy assignments on behalf of WOTR at the national and international level, including assignments in Somaliland, Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi.
Marcella D’Souza now takes over as the Director of the WOTR Centre for Resilience Studies (W-CReS) – the knowledge management, applied research and policy advocacy wing of WOTR. Having already guided the research team at WOTR to engage in trans-disciplinary action research through multi-country collaborative projects, Marcella's involvement will ensure continuity in the evolution of W-CReS into a world class institute engaged in cutting edge sustainability solutions and climate change challenges in the Global South.
On this occasion, the WOTR Board of Trustees acknowledged the immense contributions made by Marcella and thanked her for the same. It extends its full support to Prakash and wishes him much success as he assumes the challenging role of Executive Director of WOTR.
