The rapid land use change can exacerbate the effect of climate change and contributes to resource overuse. This brief provides the information of land use change over the last 25 years in the Mula-Pravara and Purna River basins located in the Godavari River in semi-arid Maharashtra and investigate the driving forces that cause change.The findings from the study could be used to reduce the detrimental effects of unplanned and ad hoc land use changes in this region via implementing suitable land management strategies in the identified hotspots of change.
