The article ‘Innovating for water security: Ferrocement Checkdams in Jalna District, Maharashtra’ gives an account of WOTR’s resourcefulness in building a ferrocement checkdam. In Adgaon village of Bhokdardan WOTR, with multiple discussions with community members about how to deal with the issue of water scarcity, came up with a solution of building ferrocement checkdam.
Watershed Organisation Trust is pleased to share a case study of 'Sattechiwadi' included as one of the best practices published in the Ministry of Environment and Forest, GOI National Report 2012 submitted to UNCCD. It gives an account of the activities implemented in Sattechiwadi (a hamlet of Hivargaon) Maharashtra and how specific land degradation problems were addressed. It also tells us about the major impact of best practice at different levels and the lessons learnt.
