In today’s times, agriculture has become increasingly reliant on chemical inputs. Small and marginal farmers, in particular, find farming an expensive occupation, pushing them towards debt-traps.

Hence, at WOTR we believe that ‘System of Crop Intensification’ (SCI) could be one answer to farmers in the semi-arids and arids of India. Promotion of organic manure and low external inputs ensures high productivity as well as soil health.

HIGHLIGHTS

In 2017-2018, 1,285 farmers adopted SCI on 323 ha of land.

As many as 163 farmers adopted the SRI (System of Rice Intensification) system of cultivation, a variant of SCI.
