Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  1. You will report directly to the Head of Communications and will be responsible for ideating and executing communications based initiatives.
  2. You will be responsible for boosting existing communication initiatives, managing the website, campaigns on social media, annual report, monthly newsletter and the quarterly magazine.
  3. You will proactively increase coverage and understanding of WOTR’s work in India and globally through content on multiple communication channels.
  4. You will build relationships with the media and pitch apt stories/create Press releases/ draft opinion pieces to ensure that our impact and narrative is captured.
  5. You will support the fundraising team in creating and executing individual donor campaigns and crafting messages, pitches and other relevant communications material for donor prospects.
  6. You will collect, organize, and create relevant news and case studies, resources, and interviews to be used for marketing, fundraising and media purposes.

Research Associate/Senior Researcher– Hydrology

At WOTR Centre for Resilience Studies (W-CReS) you will: 

  • Conduct research on Surface hydrology through hydrological modeling 
  • Perform the water accounting/balancing studies at the village/watershed/river basin level
  • Conduct research on river/stream/spring restoration and rejuvenation programs
  • Work in close coordination with the trans-disciplinary team, including practitioners
  • Develop training modules for communities and practitioners
  • Write reports and journal papers and handle hydrological data
  • Step out into the field and in our areas of interventions

  • Be a member of the Fundraising team

National Coordinator – ECOBARI

    • Serve as the national coordinator for ECOBARI and represent WOTR in its role as the secretariat of ECOBARI under the guidance of the Director of W-CReS

    • Actively liaise with members to plan and schedule activities of the collaborative that are in line with its Theory of Change – such as training and capacity building workshops, drafting joint policy briefs, etc.

We seek a dynamic, experienced fundraiser to spearhead the resource mobilisation efforts of the organisation, at a pivotal time, when WOTR is making a leap in terms of growth, expansion and re-positioning. As the Fundraising Manager, you can play a crucial role in helping drive this period of change.

The Fundraising Manager is primarily responsible for New Donor acquisition and large grants fundraising from private and public sector companies, HNI’s, and grant making foundations in India and overseas and will drive revenue growth to help achieve ambitious targets. The incumbent shall support the process of developing long-term strategic partnerships, ensuring effective key account management and relationship building with both current and new Donors.

This position will be located in Pune. The successful candidate must be willing to travel to attend meetings and establish relationships.

Managing Trustee & Executive Director



  • Provide inputs to the management team for the development of annual fundraising strategy and plans
  • Coordinate all fundraising activities internally


  • Identify prospective donors, develop and manage a detailed prospect database and maintain an active pipeline of prospective donors
  • Research prospects to assess their ‘interest’ and alignment with WOTR’s mission & program areas
  • Research and conduct due diligence on Corporates/ potential donors to ensure compliance to WOTR’s ethical guidelines and policies, prior to formal engagement with them.
  • Coordinate with Regional/State Program Managers for donor prospecting and acquisition process in the particular Region/State.
  • Update all interactions with prospects on the Donor Management Tracker regularly, review actions with Managing Trustee/ Executive Director and ensure effective follow ups and

  • Lead the development of grant applications, tailored proposals and budgets in coordination with programs teams and submission as per proposal deadlines.
  • Develop a grant-funding calendar and adhere to strict reporting and grant acquittal timelines.
  • Submission of various documentation and certifications to support proposals and grant applications, as requested by prospective donors.


  • Provide timely resolution to queries raised by donors in collaboration with Programme teams.
  • Ensure timely reporting to donors in relevant formats, in collaboration with Program Managers and Communications Team.
  • Oversee donor administration and communications to ensure timely, accurate and effective donor servicing in terms of the standard processes such as, timely dispatch of donor
  • receipts, tax certificates, sharing the annual reports, newsletters etc – in collaboration with administration, accounts and communications teams.
  • Provide relevant inputs for the creation of grant agreements/contracts with the donors.
  • Coordinate program visits for prospective donors.
  • Support initiatives for donor retention such as campaigns and events to promote long-term funding support.

  • Provide inputs and support the development of products, giving campaigns and platforms for fundraising, such as ‘Daan Utsav’, marathons, cause related events etc.

Graduate/postgraduate in Social Work or Business (Sales & Marketing) from a recognised University

  • 6-8 years’ experience in a Fundraising role with a recognised Indian or International NGO.
  • Established understanding and demonstrable experience of the fundraising process and track record of success in developing relationships with new prospects and converting them into supporters and achieving fundraising targets.
  • Understanding of Large Grants Fundraising context in India/ abroad and prospect donor target markets, i.e. HNI, CSR, Indian and International grant making Foundations.

Experience in research in Economics of Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Climate change

  • Well versed with Quantitative Techniques (sampling, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Valuation of Natural Resources, Impact Assessment methodology)

Job Description
